UBA Foundation
Our commitment to social responsibility
We are committed to social responsibility and aim to be a role model for all African businesses. As one of Africa’s largest financial services institutions, UBA has always believed in the need for a social contract between us, local communities and residents. To that end, UBA became the first bank in Nigeria to establish a foundation, the UBA Foundation, in January 2004.
Empowering local communities
With the widest financial service reach in Africa, the Foundation leverages and facilitates philanthropic ventures unlike any other institution. Our partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation has successfully supported thousands of small and medium scale enterprises across Africa, and continues to empower local communities and provide scholarships to young promising Africans through our Special Education Initiatives.
Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
As a Pan-African bank committed to the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we consistently contribute to their achievement through strategic initiatives hinged on economic empowerment, enhancing the environment, and other special projects, such as our $14 million donation to help African governments fight the COVID-19 pandemic across the continent.
